Reading Meme Continued

I'm rea-ding, I'm rea-ding, I'm reading reading rea-ding!

Yeah! I have finally started a few books for myself.
I love when Summer Reading starts at our library, it gives me a reason to read "adult books". Adults only need to read 5 books to earn their prize book and one of those 5 can be reading to your young children so technically you only have to read 4. Here is the pile of books I can home with...
Leading a Worthy Life: Sunday Morning in Plains: Bible Study with Jimmy Carter
The Complete Poetical Works of James Whitcomb Riley
Toxic Relief
The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2006
Fodor's Walt Disney World with Kids 2004

I am tagging Elementary History Teacher... by the way if you enjoy history check out her Wordless Wednesdays. They are amazing

Who Are You?

I don't want to fill this blog with a load of trivial quizzes but I could not resist this one! I love period movies and the books that inspire them especially Jane Austin. So when I had the chance to see which heroine I would be I clicked away. "Please let it be Lizzie, Please let it be Lizzie..." I didn't even cheat! LOL

I am Elizabeth Bennet!

Feeding the Ducks

We really enjoy feeding the ducks and went this weekend for the first time this Spring. G is also really into birds lately so we have to figure out what kind they are. So I looked in our handy dandy Pocket Naturalist and ID'd a few of the birds. If anyone knows what the others are we'd love to know.

Kindermusik Recital

We had our final Kindermusik recital this week... unless we can find a Young Child teacher. G is such a music lover and I would hate for him to be without a class but most of the teachers in our area do not teach the next level. We have been through 3 years of Kindermusik. Our current teachers Mrs. Charlene and her husband Mr. David are amazing.

This semester they studied about the City.
They learned American Sign Language for stop, city, bell, bicycle, photograph, and my favorite listen.
They also continued working on matching instrument sounds with the actual instrument.

Reading Meme

Dana tagged me for this reading meme a few days ago. It has brought to my attention that I am reading NOTHING for myself. As soon as I was tagged I ran upstairs to my bedside table just to double check.. maybe I was reading something and simply forgot. Nope, nothing. I have shelves of books waiting to be read but do not devote (schedule) the time to pick them up. My only personal reading currently consists of blogs and Yahoo groups. This is so disheartening because I love to read which was not always true... I didn't read a book for pleasure until I graduated college. btw (Sydney Sheldon- Windmills of the Gods)

So I have no titles to add today but Summer Reading at our local library starts in a couple of weeks and I have to read five books in order to win my prize book. I will post an update when I have my stack. Today I will show you what we're reading for.

Last "Soccer" Game of the Season

Today was our last soccer game of the Spring. G had his best game of the season! He scored 2 goals and really hustled on the field. Next... Tee Ball. We've never played this before so it should be interesting. LOL

Anticipation

I am so excited about teaching G this Fall. As if I haven't been teaching him for five years... this feels different. I am "nesting" our office and trying to get organized. I have been scouring the basement for books I know I used in my classroom but have been tucked away for four years. I am trying not to overwhelm myself but I am a planner and it is already starting to invade my thinking. I have to keep reminding myself of my goals for the year... Teach him to read and do basic math. Everything else in my mind it extra and fun so I want to keep my planning of those activities fun, too.

As I reread that last sentence, I just giggle. Who am I kidding? I am a serious planner. I get a natural high from it. There is no keeping it fun.. LOL Just check out my quote at the bottom of the blog. I hope to share my plans here as they evolve over the summer. I would love to see other's plans as well. Please leave a link with your comments.

A Fishing Story

We took G fishing for the first time this weekend. We were all extremely excited. Especially when he caught his first fish on his FIRST CAST! That was the only fish we caught all afternoon. It was a great lesson in patience and that we need smaller hooks. Hee hee

What's in your backyard tonight? (Challenge)

I am accepting my first Challenge. Dana at School for Us challenged her readers to photograph their backyard. I relished the chance to use my new camera.
