3 Week Rundown

I hope to write weekly learning notes, much like Piseco, Makita, and Jessica. I live in a wonderful state where you don't have to document anything but I still think that it is a great idea. And hopefully I won't get 3 weeks behind again.... but I probably will. (shrug)

Welcome to Our Class er Corner

Because my house still looks like this.....

Our classroom looks like this.....
That's my dining room table BEHIND the couch. Covered with paintings and things from the gutted rooms. (eyes rolling)

My awesome little bookshelf I got for $6 at CVS!
Which is filled with books the G should be able to read now or very soon. Most of them are from the Library. I found a great Bibliography at Houghton Mifflin and checked out all the below and on level books my library had. (When at the link... click on grade level, then click a theme, bibliography, Go)

I only have room for one of my white boards right now. And I switch between the Science board and a World Map as we need them. Below are some close-ups of the tasks on the board.

Beauty & the Bee

This is G's Russian Mammoth Sunflower. We are going to save this plate size blossom and plant tons of them next year. I cropped a close up of the bee... can you see how laden she is with pollen. Amazing!

Finally

Finally, I have had many posts backed up in my brain but not time to unload them. I hope I don't forget anything. Good to see you again.

The First One Close to Home

The step-brother of a High School Friend was killed in Iraq. I am so blessed that this is the first soldier I have remotely known. Godspeed Gary and Prayers for your Brothers in the force and Iraq. If you scroll over the pictures they have details. This gallery is from the Indianapolis paper.

Parents Choice in Education

Oh how true. History is Elementary had this clip from the british show Yes,Prime Minister on her site. EHT says "How do I know the video speaks volumes? Well, I’ve sat in on meetings where I’ve heard some of the same comments. Say what you want to regarding the high level of poor parenting today, but parents are still the parents and should be able to make decisions regarding the education of their children." I've sat through many of those same meetings and conferences. This video is spot on! LOL
